Preschool fun

This is our biggest preschool class ever!  In the past 7 years, since the preschool/playroom was created, we have wavered from 2 to 6 children from 0 to 5 years.  For various reasons we now have TEN!  (1 yr. old baby Vichea was napping, thus missed being in the photo).  With so many little ones,  days are long and usually I fall into bed exhausted physically and mentally.  This is not necessarily a bad thing though.

I remember times in my life where I didn't quite know which way was up, or what my next step would be.  Now (thanks to my Fitbit gifted from Margarita!) I am aware that I take approximately 12,000 steps a day...without trying.

Keeping this rambunctious group consisting of one - 1yr. old, two - 2yr. olds, two - 3 yr. olds, two - 4yr. olds and three - 5yr. olds, constructively occupied is a challenge especially with the variation of ages.  Our 6 month volunteer Lina and I have mapped out a good system so far with her taking the 4 and 5 yr. olds and I take the little ones, but there are those occasions that we bring them all together for a fun day - as such was today.

BUT before we could even get started, We heard a fierce angry quacking as our staff came towards us carrying 10 not so happy ducks.  They were relocating them to another area and the children were very interested.

After they became bored at that, we stopped to pick some flowers.

THEN our car/truck crazy little one heard a tractor and screamed with joy and went running to the fence that separates our property from the Buddhist Temple next door...and like the ducks they just watched, the others followed suit.

It's not every day you see a monk driving a tractor!

They raced back and forth along the fence line...

Until he drove out of sight.

Even though the rainy season has officially ended, we still have sporadic rain in the evenings, so the days are hot and humid, but everything is green and beautiful.  Today as older ones went on to the preschool for their circle time I remembered that we had little blow up pools left over from our family outing to KohRong Island a few months ago.  With those in mind we set about making our own little 'island' complete with our beach mats, pools, laundry tubs, colorful balls and a hose.  What more could you ask for?

The little ones, um...helped? Jaime get the pool party ready.

I promise, she's laughing - it's just not easy to tell!

And then the others joined in and it was a little too much commotion for Miss S.K. who has only been home from the hospital for a few days.  She decided to head on over to the beach mat and watch from afar.

Then on to the beach mats for snack time.

Benji is not too sure he likes this new 'no sharing' S.K.

Our forever goof-ball!

Laughing so hard as she kept pushing Benji away from her snack!  Again, seriously, she's laughing - but you really never know until you hear the sound out of her mouth.  I could have posted that "she cried when Benji stole half her snack" and you would have believed me!

Then it was back to the pools as the play became a bit more subdued.

With lunch time approaching everyone cleaned up and showered...and had an impromptu photo session.

By the way...did you notice the clothes change?  With so many the same size they don't care whose clothes they put on.

Never a dull moment and although the days are long and of course trying, AND there are times I question my existence here...its pretty obvious that it's a good fit!
