“Come on boys, help me.” That’s what I said to the handful of boys hanging around the laundry room. We are low on water many days, so we pump the water from the well into a bucket and then pour the bucketfuls into the washing machine. If we don’t do it that way, it could take up to an hour for it to fill up. The machine was graciously donated by a Wat Opot friend and is put to use all day long. With 50+ kids changing clothes every day (sometimes 2x a day) there is always an abundance of laundry to do. The kids still wash by hand as well, but we would have to hire a full time wash person to keep up with them if we didn’t have the machine.
Well, the boys helped pump the water and as I had my back turned putting the clothes into the machine, I heard them laughing. I hesitated before turning around; you never know what you will find with pre-teen and teen age boys….When I did turn, I just shook my head as I started to laugh. Then I remembered that I had my camera in my bag! WAHOO, they were caught on film!
